About the Role
As the most senior AI Engineer at SonderMind, you will spearhead the design and implementation of AI solutions, redefining mental healthcare. Reporting to Miguel Alvarado, you will lead the AI engineering team, establish best practices, and mentor budding engineers. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with Applied Science, software engineers, product managers, and designers to develop groundbreaking AI/ML solutions that drive the next generation of mental health tools.

Essential Functions

• Lead the design and implementation of AI agents to enhance mental health solutions.
• Develop and optimize large language model (LLM) workflows, balancing techniques like many-shot in-context learning and fine-tuning.
• Evaluate and select the right LLMs for various tasks to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Translate product requirements into comprehensive evaluation sets and processes, aligning with business goals.
• Establish best practices in state-of-the-art prompt engineering for innovative and effective AI solutions.
• Cultivate continuous learning by encouraging regular discussions of the latest research papers among the team.
• Build scalable and reusable AI infrastructure to support cross-functional projects.
• Uphold robust AI/ML Ops practices for efficient deployment and monitoring of AI systems.
• Collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment of AI initiatives with product goals.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Success will be defined by the development of AI solutions that significantly enhance mental health outcomes and user satisfaction. Your impact will be measured by AI technologies' effect on product innovation, the scalability of AI systems, and the growth of the engineering team.

Who You Are

• Education & Experience: Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field, with extensive experience leading AI projects at top-tier tech companies.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, and AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras; deep understanding of generative models, NLP, and AI infrastructure.
• Additional Skills: Experience with low-level programming in C++ and Rust is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset are essential. You can communicate complex AI concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for Innovation: A deep commitment to leveraging AI to transform mental healthcare and improve lives.

• Salary range: $160,000 - $190,000 per year 💵
