Gowan Agro Canada is actively seeking a dedicated Production Formulator to join our team! As a Formulator Technician, you will play a crucial role in the accurate formulation and processing of pesticide chemical products, ensuring compliance with company quality standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help us maintain a safe and efficient work environment while working closely with the production team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately formulate and process pesticide products in line with production specifications and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain production machinery efficiently.
- Manage raw materials by weighing, mixing, and verifying the quality and quantity of ingredients.
- Conduct routine troubleshooting and minor maintenance on production equipment.
- Adjust processes to achieve product consistency and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of formulation processes, batch numbers, and production data.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in handling and disposing of chemicals.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to identify and resolve product quality issues.
- Assist in inventory management and track raw materials and finished products.
- Follow all safety guidelines to promote a secure working environment.
- Train and support new operators.
- Write and review procedures in accordance with WebEDMS policy.
- Manage Safe Work Permitting and provide backup support to other departments.
- Participate in housekeeping and waste management.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in chemical or pesticide formulation.
- Knowledge of chemical handling, mixing, and formulation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
- Basic math skills to calculate measurements and ingredient proportions.
- Capable of operating and troubleshooting production equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards and handling hazardous materials.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to become Forklift and Rail Operations certified.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Job Expectations/Working Conditions:
- Work in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods while performing repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Compliance with safety and environmental regulations is mandatory.
