We are seeking a passionate and skilled Staff AI Research Scientist to contribute to our exciting projects within the Harmonious Communities Department, focusing on social well-being and the future of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary specialists and university partners to research and develop technology that models social systems. π€
- Stay up-to-date on the latest in Machine Learning theories, practices, and software. π
- Shape and communicate our research initiatives with collaborators and stakeholders at Toyota.
- Publish impactful findings in leading academic journals and conferences (e.g., KDD, ICWSM). π
- Facilitate technology transfer of research outcomes throughout Toyota.
Qualifications:
- Education: 7+ years of experience with a Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, computational social science, or a related field.
- Skills: Deep knowledge of machine learning approaches, especially in simulations, prefactual, and counterfactual modeling.
- Experience: Develop ML systems drawing from diverse data sources (text, time-series, tabular) with familiarity in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and virtualization (Docker).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong abilities in ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and big data tools (e.g., Databricks, SQL).
- Communication: Excellent skills in conveying complex concepts to various audiences.
- Team Attributes: Enthusiastic collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, committed to fostering social well-being.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with time series modeling and data analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, balancing short-term analyses with long-term innovative projects.
- Familiarity with human-centered research methods (qualitative and quantitative).
Compensation:
The expected pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between $228,800 and $343,200/year for California-based roles. TRI offers a generous benefits package, including 401(k) eligibility, paid time off, and an annual cash bonus structure.
